Giovenco Drafted By Royals
Congrats to Mike Giovenco on being named CCIW Pitcher of the week, March 09.   Giovenco struck out 12 and got the win in his last outing, while posting a 0.89 ERA to date this season.  Mike touched 94mph on the gun several times during this outing.  Great job, Mike!

Congrats to Mike Giovenco.  Mike was selected in the 14th round of the MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals.   Mike improved his fastball from 91mph to 96mph while pitching with North Park College.  Mike took part in our Elite Pitchers Program during the off-season over the past 2 years and  and is a hard working kid with the passion to improve.  Congrats Mike, and I look forward to working with you again very soon.

Ryan Hinchely (LHP) Chooses Kentucky
Ryan Improved from 81-90mph

Ryan Hinchely (York H.S) has accepted an offer to play baseball for the University of Kentucky.  The LHP improved velocity from 81-90mph in less than 7 months with Fastball USA.


Coach Ryan briefly got to work with Adam Rosales as a referral from Pete Tountas during college.   Coach Ryan had scouted Adam as an infielder at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, as Ryan scouted him in 1999 as a scout with Seattle.   Adam attended Western Michigan University and last September was called up to play with the Major Club of the Cinncinnatti Reds.   Rosales played the 2009 season in the Major Leagues.   Congrats to Adam for following his dream and never giving up.   This should be a lesson for everyone, don't let anyone tell you what you can't do.   Adam is now a major leaguer with the Reds. 
Pete Tountas Signs with Gateway Grizzleys
Pete Tountas (University of Evansville)

The two time drafted short stop and former DI players at the University of Evansville, signed to play with the Gateway Grizzleys of the Frontier League during the summer of 2009. 

Pete is a local area guy who attended Maine South High School and has been drafted by the (Mets '05, Red Sox '06).  Pete also attended Jefferson College, the same college Mark Buerle attended.  Pete is an e
xcellent shortstop, good bat, with good hands and a strong arm and has a great work ethic.

UIC ADDS PITCHER MIKE SCHOOLCRAFT TO 2010 CLASS

March 30, 2009
CHICAGO- UIC head baseball coach Mike Dee announced on Monday, Mar. 30 that right-handed pitcher Mike Schoolcraft (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) will join the Flames' pitching staff in the fall of 2009 after returning his Intent to Enroll form to the University.

Schoolcraft is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound hurler coached by Chris Piggott at Fremd.


"Mike has a very athletic delivery and already pitches at 86-88 mph with his fastball," said UIC assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Mike Nall. "He also has a sharp curveball with good depth. In addition, his body type and work ethic lead me to believe that he will throw harder in the very near future.
"He is very competitive and fit in great with our current players on his campus visit."


Matt Johnsen: Attends Ball State University

Matt Johnsen (LHP) has been training with Coach Ryan and Coach Steve since he was 12 years old at Fastball USA.   He turned himself into one of the best pitchers in the state of Illinois.    Matt lead his American Legion Team to the 2009 Illinois State Title.
Matt was named the Illinois State Tournament MVP.   Posted an 11-1 record with a 2.88 ERA in 2009 and a 4-0 record with a 0.58 ERA in 2008.

Matt attended Fremd High School in Palatine,and is now attending Ball State University.

Hoeksema Attends Carthage College

During the Summer Of 2010 John set new records at Fastball USA. 

This included hitting 90MPH for the first time off the mound and recording several 88-89mph readings.   John began with Fastball USA during his freshman year.   His velocity was at 69-71MPH and he was able to improve that number to 85mph by his senior year.

John continues to improve setting his personal Turn & Burn record of 94MPH and hitting 90mph off the mound for the first time.

Matt Williams (Class of 2011- York H.S.) currently holds our Academy Exit Speed Record for Hitters at 99mph and our bat speed record at 106mph.   Matt began training with Fastball USA at the age of 12 years old.    Now he is one of the best hitters in the state of Illinois.

On Presidents day weekend Matt was rewarded with a tournament MVP as he led his team to the Championship in Florida.    Matt batted .688 in the tourney with five doubles and a game winning walk off homerun.
  

Scott Swiderek Walther Lutheran * All Conferance 2009 Class 2010 To Attend Triton College in 2010/2011
Scott Swiderek posted an outstanding high school career including All-Conference Selections.   Swiderek featured power at the plate hitting 8 Home Runs on the season and was very effective from the mound. 

Scott began at Fastball USA as an 8th grader and still continues to train.  His velocity improved from 66mph to 85mph during that time.   Scotty is also apart of our 90mph club hitting 92mph Turn and Burn.  

Scott also improve his bat speed from 71mph to 101mph during the past five years.  Scott is one of only 3 Fastball students to post 100mph bat speed or more.
 

Elliott Greenhill - Otterbein University
Elliott Greenhill


Elliott Greenhill (Otterbein University) trained during his high school career at Fastball USA and during winter break during college.    Elliott is one of the Fastball USA Record Holders 100MPH CLUB.   He has recorded 102mph bat speed and 99mph exit speed.    The following info is posted on his teams web site:

Two-year letterman … As a Sophomore: Played in 23 games, starting 13 to earn second varsity letter … Hit a game-tying three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as part of a 2-for-4 day with four RBIs against Calvin (3/14/09) … Blasted a pinch-hit solo home run vs. Wittenberg (4/22/09) … Went 2-for-4 at Ohio Northern (5/3/09) … As a Freshman: Earned first varsity letter in 2008 while playing in six games … Recorded five hits in just eight at-bats for a .625 batting average … Also posted a 1.000 slugging percentage … Hit a two-run home run during a 1-for-2 outing at Capital (4/26/08) … Major: Speech Communication …

Jack has topped at 83mph and is now a freshman at St. Viator H.S. in Arlington Hts,IL


Jack recently made the East Cobb Astros 15U team.
One of if not the best team(s) in the nation.

RECENT WRITE UP ON THE PREP BASEBALL REPORT...
In the Class of 2012, St. Viator OF-LHP Jack Czeszewski  earned the top honors, followed by Mt. Zion C-RHP Skyler Henderson.  The left-handed hitting Czeszewski demonstrated a strong outfield arm, good athleticism and an effortless 77-78 mph fastball and sharp curveball off the mound. Cseszewski has the skill level to make an impact on varsity right away.
