Why Fastball USA and our Black Belt Training Program for Pitchers ?
Proven Velocity Improvement
Just read the stories on our homepage and our results tab. No other training center can match the success stories at Fastball USA. Coach Steve and Coach Ryan are throwing and pitching experts at understanding how to assist players in both the acceleration of the arm and deceleration of the arm. (Velocity plus arm health).
Here is our focus:
# 1 Overal Arm Health and Durability # 2 Velocity # 3 Command # 4 Movement & Deception # 5 Breaking Ball # 6 Strategy on keeping hitters off balance using EV
We believe velocity and command go hand in hand. If we have a player improving velocity that can't find the plate we still have something "off" in the throwing motion. This can also lead to injury.
"PRONATION NATION"
Do you understand how pronation can help or hurt your throwing performance. It's not only about pronation, it's about pronating at the right time and more effectively. The Pronation Series goes along way with improving our entire performance including arm health, control, movement, breaking ball, and velocity.
Even those coming off an injury will use Fastball USA on their road to recovery and getting back to maximum performance. Fastball USA is a leader when it comes to understanding how the body works when it comes to high level throwing athletes.
Does it really matter how hard you throw ?
No. If you have no plans on playing at the next level. Unfortunately the guys left behind (pitchers or position players) are the guys who don't throw hard enough. In the long term velocity is very, very important. In the short term velocity does not make you a better pitcher. Pitching Velocity or Throwing Velocity simply opens the doors of opportunities of college scholarships, and professional, or major league baseball.
What About Greg Maddux?
Maddux was not known for throwing hard. Maddux became a complete pitcher after reaching the major leagues. He did break into pro ball with a 92mph fastball. The fastball once again simply provided the opportunity.
Pitching is hitting spots, movement, and keeping hitters off balance. This is covered with our emphasis on goal oriented training along with our use of the concepts of a concept referred to as Effective Velocity. EV was developed from studies from Perry Husband.
Goal Oriented Training allows our students to improve on the area they are focused on that particular day. Goals may include (Velocity-Command - Breaking Ball - Velo plus command, bullpen) for example. We undertand that the best way to bring results is to not overcomplicate training but to simplify. We understand this concept which often drives our students success.

At Fastball USA we will evaluate and work on maximizing the following:
These Areas Can Help or Hurt our ability to maximize Performance
Mechanical Efficiencies: * Arm Action And Arm Interaction * Dynamic Posture or Posture Efficiency Hip to Spine * Pelvic Loading * Use of Feet and Legs to create and direct energy * Creation of Momentum and Control of center of gravity
These Areas Are Covered and Trained:
Mindset of the Athlete
Physical Assymetries and Imbalances
Skill Specific Movement/Mobility/Flexibility
Skill Specific Strength/Movement Specific Strength
Skill Specific Coordination
Creating The Feel "Feel is the deal"
Focus on Deliberate Practice or Practice with a Clear Purpose
Efficiency of Movement Patterns as mentioned above
Wake Up and Warm Up Segment
Intent.... We understand the body will organize itself based on the goal of the activity therefore it is crucial we practice with a clear intent to maximize practice time and performance.
Demotivating Influence of Others ... Overcome this.
Ineffective, Inappropriate Cycles of Training.... You must overcome or limit this.

"Charlie's velocity has improved about 9 M.P.H. over the past 12 months. I was amazed over the last 2 weeks in November with the turn and burn drill, Charlie recorded 83 M.P.H. three times and the next week he exploded to another high of 87 M.P.H.
Strengthening and conditioning the core has impressed us with the amount of progress Charlie has made in the Black Belt program over the past 4 years.
His body can handle the stress which gives him the confidence & command he needs to be a successful pitcher. Coaches Mike & Steve have proven to be effective in teaching the correct mechanics and strengthening the body through muscle memory which we had seen in Charlie's video analysis. I am convinced by Charlie's performance that this program is the key to his success.

Anyone like to throw harder with better control, better movement, and improved deception?
All while being more physically and mentally prepared than ever!

Dear Prospective Student and Parent,
Black Belt Pitching University is my personal creation based on my life's experiences as a player, coach, instructor, and parent. It is far different than how I was taught. It is far different than I coached 10 years ago. It is far different than I coached it 3 years ago.
Black Belt Training:
Velocity - We don't ignore the importance of velocity for someone who wants to play collegiate, or professional baseball. In fact velocity is something that absolutely can be improved. WE WILL IMPROVE YOUR VELOCITY...GUARNTEED! How much ? The results will differ, but the average student has been recorded to gain between 3-4mph in just a 12 week period. The averages also show a 6-7mph increase in a 12 month period.
While others are creating great target hitters, and completely ignore the importance of training, we recognized and work all of our skill around the center of better pitching velocity.
74mph to 81mph in one off-season! "Mike's the #1 pitcher and bats 2nd in the lineup (at a class 8A school with over 2,600 students) and when he's not pitching, he's at short. This is largely the result of your work and dedication. You have documented Mike's improvement in pitching from throwing 74mph to 81mph, and don't forget, he's 14 yrs old and does not turn 15 yrs old until the end of the Summer. You also have an equally impressive improvement record in his batting...bat speed, ball exit speed, etc."

Command/Control: Build Velocity and Improve Control! Command/Control can and will improve as we improve and generate more speed. If done correctly! We utilize a drill series that focuses on learning the pitching delivery in the most efficient manner. Command and Control is generally determined exactly where your arm and body line up at release point. Our Backward Chaining Drills focus on the end of the delivery, and works backwards. This also improves the speed of the learning environment for quicker awareness and progress.
Movement/deception/off-speed All are important parts of the pitching equation and should not be over-looked.
Here is what we will NOT do! Cookie Cut. Some actually want this! We don't try to replicate and duplicate each pitcher to look like one particular pitching model. For example saying that Greg Maddux, has perfect mechanics and that everyone should throw like Greg Maddux would not be the answer to your pitching development. Could some throw very similiar to Maddux, absolutely. We wouldn't want to change Clemens and tell him he should throw like Maddux.
Style Nuetral/Results Focused
We objectively measure as much as we possibly can in our lessons and training classes. Our pitchers will receive objective feedback that is recorded based on the goal of the activity. For example if the goal is to throw strikes, we will record each and every throw, in each and every drill and provide % of strikes feedback. We will also get the pitcher involved in the learning process. Where did you miss the most? Why? What are the adjustments that need to be made?
We will do the same with Velocity Measurements. We allow the student freedom to experiment and learn and develop a better throwing motion.
While the rest of the world is pitching too much and not throwing enough, our program is trying to prepare the pitcher for battle by over-training for the event.
78mph to 84mph in one year With Better Command!
"Fastball USA has provided Ed with a solid foundation of pitching motion. The velocity of his fastball was about 62 mph when he started in7th Grade. IN less than six months his velocity was 70 mph with better command of the strike zone. By Freshman Year you helped him improve to 78 MPH , and recently he hit 84mph as a sophomore. I’m confident that Fastball USA can help Ed make more improvements in his pitching this year. "

Arm Care........... How important is your arm to you? Any Program That does not make this a focal point is an incomplete program! Truth? The harder you throw the more likely an injury can occur. Injuries are common in baseball but often people point the finger to one or two things that cause injury.
Poor Mechanics....right? Pitch Counts.....right? We believe the most underestimated reason for injury for pitcher is that the pitcher is very under-prepared (physically) for the stress of pitching in a game. Meaning if the arm and body is stressing through a pitching outing, then you have not done enough to prepare for pitching in a game, or a season.
This is why Explosive Pitching University Works on what we call PRE-HAB! Focus - Preparing the Arm and Body for the stress of pitching in a game or over a season.
Steps 1- Balance and build the strength in the arm, esecially where common weakness and injuries occur
Step 2 - Prepare the entire body by strengthening the legs, back, and stomach. Core strength is crucial.
Step 3 - Balancing the muscles throughout the body. Injuries commonly occur when one side of the arm or body is stronger than the other. So while pitching coaches talk about "balance", we often talk about balance is so many other ways.
Our Arm care Program is a daily 4 Step Process that includes as many as 36 different exercises in order to prepare the pitcher for game time battle. How much do you currently prepare your arm and body to pitch? No other program pays close attention to preparing the arm and body to be physically ready to pitch than our program.
So many billed Mark Prior as having perfect mechanics. He did the towel drill daily, but where is he now? If his mechanics were so good, and mechanics is the only factor in injury, then why did he get hurt?
Recently Added University Segments..... Mental Game Training (Never seen it like this. Adversity is tested everyday!) Nutrition and how it impact performance and recovery In-Season Routines........How to train during the season
To register for our programs, you must fill out the extensive application regardless of age. We have various program levels.
